Remasters of the first Dragon Age games are unlikely due to outdated engines

The former executive producer of the series explained why updated versions of the first Dragon Age games are unlikely to appear.

Mark Darrah, the former executive producer of Dragon Age, has stated that fans shouldn't expect remasters of the first games in the series. He cited the outdated engines on which Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II were built as the main obstacle. According to him, there are almost no specialists left, even within BioWare, who are capable of working with these technologies.

Earlier, the developers considered the possibility of releasing a trilogy collection similar to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. However, implementing this idea turned out to be too difficult due to technical limitations. BioWare is currently focused on creating a new Mass Effect game, which also reduces the chances of remasters or a new Dragon Age appearing anytime soon.
